EdgeIQ – Add Users

Every EdgeIQ account is made up of Devices and Users who can access or manage said Devices. This documentation will show you how to add a user to your account, create a password, and assign it permissions.

Once you are logged into your EdgeIQ account locate the “Users” icon near the bottom of the sidebar. Then click on “+ Create User” in the toolbar across the middle of the page.

Create User

This will bring up a new tab titled “New User” where you can start entering in the relevant data to create a user as seen in the image below.

User Details

There are a few categories to either fill in or select an option via a drop-down menu.

  • Profile Photo
    • Upload a profile photo if you would like.
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • An email or username
    • Ezurio recommends using an email for this field.
  • Parent Account
    • In most cases as an Ezurio customer, you will have access to only one parent account. Your own. For example, if you work for Tech Company XYZ then you should see a parent account in the drop-down menu that represents that name.
    • NOTE: The parent account cannot be changed once it is set.
  • Additional Managed Accounts
    • This allows this user to be assigned sub-accounts that you want them to have access to. In most cases as an Ezurio customer you will not have any Additional Managed Accounts in this drop-down menu.
  • Select Role (permissions)
    • Here you can pick a pre-defined role, either a default or one of your own creation, to assign to this user. The role will give them a specific set of permissions within EdgeIQ. The default roles are described below at the end of this document.
    • The most common selection here is either Users or Systems Admins.
  • Edit Metadata
    • Here you can assign key/value pairs to this user thereby creating metadata for the user itself.
  • Password
    • Enter a minimum of 8 characters for a password and confirm it by typing it again.

When you are finished and satisfied with all the above fields, click “Create User”. You are now down with this user, but you will notice that a button has appeared which will allow you to prompt a password reset email to be sent out. Use this feature if you would like the user to create their own specific password instead of you assigning them one.

This is a work in progress. Please explore the “Roles” tab in the sidebar to explore the roles in detail.
